Conflict-Free Diamond Policy

Eternity by Yoni Conflict-Free Diamond Policy

Our commitment to operating a responsible business doesn't end with outstanding customer service; we also pledge to offer conflict-free diamonds only. This means that every diamond we sell was procured legally and ethically, in compliance with the Patriot Act, the Kimberly Process, and United Nations resolutions.

Read on to learn more about responsible diamond procurement and our conflict-free diamond guarantee.

Conflict-Free Diamonds

We guarantee that our diamonds come only from sources that do not participate in human rights violations, child labor, violence, or disrespect for the environment. In addition to the standards set forth by the Kimberly Process, we ensure that our diamonds do not come from governments or groups that use diamonds to finance their conflicts.

Blood Diamonds

Most of the word's diamonds came from regions in Africa during the 1990's, particularly those with unstable governments and civil strife. Unbeknownst to western consumers, rebel armies and militant groups would harvest diamonds for sale overseas, thereby securing funding for their often brutal campaigns against governments and civilians, hence the term "blood diamond." Exacerbating the situation was the fact that these rebel groups instituted a mining process that took no regard to the environment or the young workers they forced into backbreaking labor. As you can no doubt understand, purchasing diamonds from such groups, who apply no value to the environment nor human life, is completely unacceptable.

Kimberly Compliant and America's Patriot Act

In an effort to ensure that diamond sold in markets outside of Africa were obtained from conflict-free sources, several countries in southern Africa established the Kimberly Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) in 2000 to certify the origin of rough diamonds from sources known to be conflict-free. The guidelines defined in the KPCS were eventually adopted by the United Nations, and independent auditing agencies enforce the KPCS policies by tracking diamonds from their places of origin to delivery. Further, polished diamonds sold in the United States must comply with the Patriot Act, which mandates KPCS compliance for every American diamond dealer

Our Conflict-Free Diamond Initiative

At Eternity by Yoni, we take the issue of so-called blood diamonds or conflict-free diamonds very seriously. We have established internal guidelines that actually exceed government requirements as follows:

  • Eternity by Yoni purchases polished diamonds only from reputable, professional members of the diamond trade.
  • Eternity by Yoni has established legal and binding contracts with our suppliers that require all of the diamonds they offer to us to be 100% conflict-free.

We know that you care about where your diamonds came from and that they were procured in compliance with international legal, ethical, environmental guidelines. When you shop with Eternity by Yoni, you can be sure that our diamonds were selected using the highest trade standards and come only from responsible, reputable sources.
